I have the highest regard for Mr Spink and his team. He operated on my spinal cord in October 2014 in order to remove a large benign tumour. This was a long complex operation and his skills in this surgical area ensured the whole tumour was removed. Mr Spink is an excellent communicator, he explained fully all procedures to me before and after my operation. He also gave me the confidence I needed to face the operation and the future, his support has been invaluable. I recommend him to anyone facing complex spinal surgery.

I feel so lucky to have found Mr Spink; after suffering from chronic back and nerve pain for over 16 years, I now have my life back. Mr Spink was the only person that took the time to give me an accurate diagnosis and plan of action for surgery. I had lumbar fusion surgery at L5/S1 with rods and screws. It was hoped that my pain would be eased...........in fact, I am now pain free and off all medication. Words on the internet cannot begin to express the gratitude I have for Mr Spink and his team; frankly, the man is a gentleman and a genius. For anyone contemplating this kind of surgery (as a last resort to all other options, as there are risks) then I cannot recommend Mr Spink more highly. After surgery though, it is up to you to work hard at the physio. The operation gives you the opportunity to get fit and strong. Just sitting in a chair afterwards will not get your life back. Positive mental attitude is key with major surgery such as this.

I was operated on in August 2014 by Mr Spink in Hull Royal Infirmary. I cannot speak highly enough of the quality of care I received. Mr Spink visited me in the ward and took the time to fully explain my problem and the treatment I needed. This was done in a way that I was able to understand without being condescending. Mr Spink has a friendly and reassuring manner, he seemed genuinely interested in me as a person rather than a set of case notes, he even asked for a few chess tips! The operation was a great success and my recovery was swift with better results than I was expecting. At my follow up appointment Mr Spink took the time to show me my scan pictures so I could fully appreciate exactly what had happened to me. I would fully recommend Mr Spink to any patient looking for a neuro surgeon, and offer him my heartfelt thanks

A very kind and understanding surgeon. He listens very carefully when you explain your symptoms and explains with great care what you can expect both during your stay in hospital and after the surgery has been completed. The staff in the hospital also clearly like him and that is a very good sign? I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Spink.
