Review of Radiology Ultrasound - King George Hospital
11th January 2025

They were very courteous and the doctor who did the scanning asked appropriate(regarding my health issues) questions and listened patiently. The nurse was also very helpful and helped me position myself properly on the bed for scanning. Great to have doctors and Nurses working on weekends as it is easier for us to attend appointments without bothering about our kids.

Suggested improvements
I am very happy with the service I received. The only suggestion would be that there should be someone at the scanning department reception to register us.There was none at the reception and it was concerning because I thought I would not be called in.

Review of King George’s - Accident & Emergency
8th January 2025

I had a good time with both the doctors and nurses, all trying to ensure I received care except a bit of high time wastage in delivering the services., I waited for over 8 hours in A/ E before I could receive actual treatment. I never planned sleeping over but I was made to sleep over ,not because of my case ,but due to pressures and poor time management. Overall, they are good

Suggested improvements
■ management of time should be improved ■ put heaters on in the waiting areas ,it was really very cold especially during the night ■ employ more hands for nurses and doctors to ensure quick delivery of services. ■ Thank for providing security, good one ,keep it up

The 111 was very helpful in providing all the necessary history etc. Once the blood test was taken and results reviewed the team were very diligent on proving a high level of care and treatment.

Suggested improvements
Triage process was a little delayed /slow, and procedural so it took a while to get the blood test / blood test results. Once the results of the blood test were known treatment was efficiently carried out

Review of Outpatients Department
7th January 2025

The care I received at my appointment and tge gastroenterology dept has always been incredibly good. Very high standard of expertise and care.

Suggested improvements
There is not enough resourses for the gastroenterolgy team. I have been waiting over 2 years for a colonoscopy following major surgery. I have chased a number of times and still ended up being sent for a consultation rather than coloniscopy and it isn't the teams fault. The other issue is that we need to go to Queens hospital.for the prep within limited hours weekday. Queens is incredibly difficult for me to get to. Poor transport links. King George's is much easier. I preferred it when I could go and collect prep.from.gastro reception at King George's Hospital. I would.appreciate the option being reinstated. I also.would be happy to pay for postage for.the prep.to be sent to me, up to £5. I think that is fair for.people when working. Ideally it would be more helpful to give the option for King George's or Queens. It is disappointing that I didn't receive my appointment sooner as 2 years after surgery is a long time . I would.like to confirm the care I receive is excellent, its the waiting times and prep issues.

Review of Ash Ward
5th January 2025

I was referred by my g.p to go to a/e with an urgent referral letter to go to queens hospital as she believed I may have compression on my spinal chord I was sent to Queens I was triaged and sent to the urgent care centre the doctor there said they could only give me pain relief meds did not examine me atall and sent me back to a/e when I got back to a/e and told the receptionist I had been sent Bach she said I had been discharged.. she had to contact some one in admin to re-open my referral and was told to go the the a/e waiting room I sat there for 2 hrs by this time I had been in a wheelchair for 4hrs there was no communication and I could not sit there in pain any longer there was no one to ask what was going on or if I could have some pain relief I was initially told I would get some when I was triaged. I my daughter and I decided we would go home I phoned my gp on the way home and she strongly advised me to return to A/E so we went to Kgh we did this and were sent to urgent care again and then tweet sent to A/e we were there for 11 hrs neurosurgery would not see me because I had a pain stimulator fitted by chronic pain team and I had to see them. I was admitted onto mau I was given Pain relief by the Dr on the ward was on this ward for 5 days and was never seen by the chronic pain team. I was moved to Ash ward I decided that I was going to contact the chronic pain team myself at queens via telephone explain the situation and said she would send an email to my consultant and I also contacted the company who fitted my stimulator to find out if she could help she came onto the ward to see me and travelled from Cambridge she sent an email to the consultant I am under I was in hospital for 19 days.was treated so well by the nurse and Dr Tanday. I was eventually seen by my consultant after 11 days in hospital they arranged a ct scan as I could not have a mri because of my implant at this point I was so frustrated because I did not see them again I was given lots of different pain meds but was not getting any answers as to what was wrong. And was still getting pain and was unable to weight bear on my right leg. I was next told I would be going for a steroid injection in my hip this was done and I was told not to weight bear by the dr in x/ray i was nearing my 116th day in hospital i did not see the pain team as all communication was done over the phone between the dr I was under on ash ward Dr Tanday I was still getting pain in my hip leg and knee and was sent for x/ray on my knee which was inconclusive I was eventually discard after 19 days still with lots of pain meds and no plan for treatment and was told I will get a f/up appt with my consultant I contacted the pain team in the new year and explained I needed to see Dr Londono and was offered an appt for 6/1/25 otherwise next appt was in March hence to say I took it as still in pain.will see what happens then I cannot fault the care I received from the sisters to the muse on ash ward they are amazing and do an incredible job I worked for the NHS for 42 yrs and cannot believe how much time is wasted being an inpatient I when you cannot get to see and be treated by the right team I was admitted via a/ e in excruciating pain in my back. On my back neurosurgery team refused to see me as I

Suggested improvements
More communication is needed I should have been sent from kgh to the neurosurgery ward and perhaps I would not have had to spend wasted time on the ward the chronic pain team were not even aware I was an inpatient for at least 7-10days

Review of King George’s - Accident & Emergency
3rd January 2025

The staff provide me with good care but I was in A&E for 15hrs in total this was prolonged because it was decided not to do blood & Urine tests but then after 8/9 hrs waiting the doctor decided blood tests were required and so had to wait for those to be done and for results to come back. These could have been done in the first 8/9 hrs of being there.

Suggested improvements
I presented with an unknown reason for back pain all tests could have been conducted while I was waiting to see a doctor which would have reduced my time in A&E rather than being sat there for several hrs for a doctor to say these test were in fact needed.
