Excellent hospital, very clean and friendly; quick efficient service and wonderful atmosphere.
Only a few points that made my stay a little less than perfect then I expected;
I was put in a lovely room every time I visited, but the last visit was for surgery where i was put in a room with an older bed that only moved up the head up and down by metal bars. This was disappointing when there were multiple empty rooms over my stay with fully mobile electric beds, that would have helped me during recovery; as i really struggled to get comfortable and needed extra pain relief to allow me to sleep in that bed.
I was sick after my surgery because I was given tablet form pain relief when I was on a liquid diet due to stomach surgery and my lack of esophageal motility.
All staff were wonderful and treated me with respect and very friendly, however because it is a general ward, the staff did not all know my situation and couldn't answer a lot of questions and had to bring the wonderful surgeon in to answer them. I didn't get to have any liquid food for over a day because no one knew what i should be having so did not suggest or offered anything and catering staff only offered toast etc that I couldn't have. it took the surgeon coming in on day two, to say I needed to show I could swallow something before I could be discharged. I was then helped to get something but was still not appropriate as the only things available where dairy that I can't have and porridge that they ended up giving me that was too thick and lumpy when i should have had clear liquid broth of some sort.
However, I would definitely use there service again and really appreciate the rest of the great care I received!
Very polite and friendly staff, relaxing and calming atmosphere. I was treated throughout with dignity and respect.
I was made to feel important by staff who treated me with respect and consideration? I was given my own room which appeared clean and comfortable. Everything ran smoothly and to schedule. Staff explained things at each stage.
My family and I have been at this hospital many times for operations and we always get very well looked after. BUT guys you have to do something about the parking it is beyond a joke. When we are paying the amount of money we have to pay then we should at least be able to park in a convenient space and not have to hunt and get blocked in!
Amazing doctor explains everything in terms that can understand
Excellent experience all round.
The Spire Hospital for me was great. The staff where all above excellent, and very friendly. I couldn't of asked for more. The room was well equipped and clean. The choice of foods available throughout the day and night was amazing. Would highly recommend to anyone.
If you have to be ill, this is the place to be treated. The staff are friendly and professional and the care they give is exceptional.
I had breast reduction surgery here and I was in for 2 nights. From the moment I checked in to the moment I left I was made to feel welcome, anything at all I needed was immediately got for me. I called up and asked to see a doctor once I had gone home about concerns i was having and I went straight in and only waited 15 mins and a doctor saw me and prescribed me some more antibiotics immediately, no waiting around going to pick up medication myself it was given straight to me. Any issues I have had I have called the nurses up and they have been more than helpful. If I need any procedure or health care in the future I will defiantly be choosing to go here and not the main hospital.
The hospital is the main one in Hull and unfortunately there is not much other choice. It is an old building and as has been undergoing some updating recently but still I feel more is needed. Some areas are improved but others still dingy and old. Generally the admin staff and nurses seem to be fairly friendly and efficient. Some departments I have experienced either personally or whilst accompanying others have been very good but others such as A&E and the Fracture clinic have been not so good with long waiting times. With regard to the Fracture clinic, despite been given a specific appointment time we were left for over 2 hours and were the second to last patient to be seen despite others arriving after us and being seen before us. definite room for more improvement in most areas.
